Baseball Recap: Vista del Lago Victorious

Vista del Lago gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against the Lincoln Fighting Zebras by a score of 7-2. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered an 8-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Ryan Lafortune tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Tyler Bolyard and Mason Deutsch did most of the damage at the plate: Bolyard scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Deutsch went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Deutsch has posted since back in April of 2024. Logan Shamblin also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Vista del Lago's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Lincoln, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.

Vista del Lago and Lincoln should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Vista del Lago (ranked 117th) will meet Ponderosa (ranked 460th) at 4:00 p.m. on the 8th. Meanwhile, Lincoln will square off against Center at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 281 places (103 vs. 384).
