Basketball Game Preview: Fleming Colonels vs. J.R. Tucker Tigers

The Fleming Colonels will venture away from home to face off against the J.R. Tucker Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Fleming will be strutting in after a victory while J.R. Tucker will be coming in after a loss.

On Tuesday, Fleming needed a bit of extra time to put away Staunton River. They managed a 65-59 win over the Golden Eagles. Given the Colonels' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, J.R. Tucker suffered their biggest defeat since December 18, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a blow against John Marshall, falling 87-52. The Tigers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Fleming is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points over those games. J.R. Tucker's defeat dropped their record down to 18-4.
