Softball Recap: Salina Central Extends Home Winning Streak to 11

Salina Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Hutchinson Salthawks by a score of 6-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Sophia Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Salina Central let Valerie VanZant and Katy Wagner run wild. VanZant went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while Wagner went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Salina Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Salina Central's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.
