Basketball Game Preview: Highlands Owls vs. Jefferson Mustangs

The Highlands Owls will square off against the Jefferson Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Highlands is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Lanier just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 43-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Voks.

Meanwhile, Jefferson came tearing into Tuesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Golden Bears as they made off with a 54-30 win.

Jefferson has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 18-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Highlands, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-12.

Highlands beat Jefferson 45-35 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Does Highlands have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jefferson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
