Basketball Recap: Eli Tinkham's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fort Calhoun over Syracuse

Fort Calhoun was the 68-57 winner over Syracuse when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Fort Calhoun Pioneers fell 54-43 to the Syracuse Rockets on Saturday.

Fort Calhoun lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Eli Tinkham, who posted eight points. The dominant performance gave Tinkham a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Welchert, who had nine points.

Fort Calhoun's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Syracuse, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Fort Calhoun wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 37-22 victory against Conestoga on the 10th. As for Syracuse, they will head out to take on Johnson County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
