Recap: Benson Bunnies vs. Creighton Prep Junior Jays

This season hasn't been kind to The Benson Bunnies, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were dealt a 46-0 defeat at the hands of Creighton Prep on Friday. Benson has struggled against Creighton Prep recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Among those leading the charge was Tony Coniglio, who threw for 157 yards and two touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Jacob Ruby, who gained 80 total yards and a touchdown.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Benson to a paltry 30 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Creighton Prep's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Takoda Butler and his two sacks.

Benson's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-8 Burke and 2-7 Westview (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.3% over those games). As for Creighton Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Benson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Creighton Prep will head out on the road to face off against Omaha Westside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Omaha Westside has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 443 points over their last nine matches.
