Soccer Game Preview: Dimond vs. West Anchorage

The Dimond Lynx will square off against the West Anchorage Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Dimond sitting on 16 straight victories and West Anchorage on eight.

Dimond is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Chugiak as they made off with a 4-1 win. Dimond might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by three goals or more this season.

They hit Chugiak with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jared Mateaki (2), Maksim Millwood, and Kai Walker.

Meanwhile, West Anchorage faced South Anchorage in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles never let the Wolverines get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. West Anchorage are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the 12th match they've won by 3+ goals this season.

West Anchorage's win bumped their record up to 16-2-1. As for Dimond, their victory bumped their record up to 16-0-1.

Dimond got the 'W' when the teams last played on May 2nd against West Anchorage by a conclusive 5-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lynx since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
