Recap: Payson Longhorns vs. Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets
There's no place like home for the Payson Longhorns, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They managed a 43-38 win over Blue Ridge on Thursday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Payson's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Blue Ridge is ranked 20th).
Lizzy White was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. White is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Clara Whaley, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Payson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.
Payson will head out on the road to face off against Winslow at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Blue Ridge, they will be playing at home against Show Low at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
