Softball Recap: Southampton Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Southampton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past the Sussex Central Tigers 22-0 on Thursday. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Southampton let Natasha Melbye and Katie Roach run wild. Melbye went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Roach went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Melbye has posted since back in May of 2024. Kayla Brooks also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Southampton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Southampton's record is now 6-3. As for Sussex Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Southampton has already played their next game, a 5-4 victory against Windsor on the 6th. Sussex Central has also already played their next contest (against Greensville County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
