Basketball Recap: Mt. Carmel Sundevils vs. Bishop's Knights
Mt. Carmel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Bishop's Knights, falling 63-38.
Despite the loss, Mt. Carmel saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tyler Humphrey earned ten points plus seven rebounds and five blocks. Those five blocks set a new season-high mark for Humphrey. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Hourani, who posted eight points.
Mt. Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Bishop's, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Mt. Carmel won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Rancho Bernardo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Carmel is facing Rancho Bernardo at the right time seeing as Rancho Bernardo is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Bishop's, they will challenge Helix at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop's knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Helix likes a good challenge.
