Basketball Preview: Page Patriots vs. Brentwood Bruins
Page has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Brentwood Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Page focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
Page can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup. They blew past Ravenwood 75-35 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-21.
Page's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mary Fox, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Fox also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Lily Espelet, who scored 16 points along with six steals and five assists.
Meanwhile, Brentwood was able to grind out a solid victory over the Knights on Friday, taking the game 46-36. Given Brentwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Knights are ranked 106th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ella Ryan, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Ava Jarrett was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Page is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Brentwood's record now sits at 19-3.
Tuesday's contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Fox and Ryan. Fox has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 15.2 points, 2.6 steals, and 7 rebounds. For her part, Ryan has averaged 23.8 points, 3.6 steals, and 6.6 rebounds.
Page didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Bruins in their previous meeting on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 45-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Page since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
