1A Carolina recap Oct. 30, 2012
Goldsboro extended the longest winning streak in 1A Carolina this week by beating Ayden-Grifton, 30-25. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Cougars.
North Duplin led the league in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on Spring Creek. Tyler Royal threw for 16 yards and ran for 221 yards in the win.
Princeton's dynamic duo of Michael Wooten and Jamaal Allen proved tough for Rosewood to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wooten threw for 93 yards and Allen had 52 yards receiving. Johnny Frasier helped Princeton's passing attack out by catching two balls for 41 yards.
Goldsboro's Julius Murphy and Joseph Baker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Murphy has thrown for 1691 yards this season, while Baker, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 35 catches for 495 yards. Royal from the Rebels leads the league in rushing with 1859 yards.
A big matchup in 1A Carolina this week will be when the Bulldogs take on North Duplin. Princeton is in fifth place, while Hugh Martin's team is in third place.
