Basketball Preview: Pungo Christian Academy Raiders vs. Northeast Academy Eagles
Pungo Christian Academy is 8-2 against the Eagles since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders will get right back to it and host the Northeast Academy Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Pungo Christian Academy will be strutting in after a victory while the Eagles will be coming in after a defeat.
In what's become a running theme this season, Pungo Christian Academy gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 74-36 win over Mattamuskeet. With Pungo Christian Academy ahead 37-12 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Meanwhile, Northeast Academy struggled with assists on Wednesday (the Warriors had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Northeast Academy was beaten by the Warriors 53-20. Northeast Academy has not had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the loss, Northeast Academy saw an underclassman step up: Jaden Medford scored eight points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Northeast Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Pungo Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Northeast Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
Everything came up roses for Pungo Christian Academy against the Eagles when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 65-16 victory. With Pungo Christian Academy ahead 44-5 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
