The Maranatha Christian Eagles will head out to challenge the La Jolla Country Day Torreys at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Maranatha Christian will be strutting in after a win while La Jolla Country Day will be coming in after a defeat.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Maranatha Christian nor Francis Parker made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lancers, sneaking past 4-3. Surprisingly, this marked the Eagles' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

The team relied heavily on Shane Piester, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. He has become a key player for Maranatha Christian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 2-16 otherwise.
Meanwhile, La Jolla Country Day suffered their closest loss since April 1st on Thursday. They fell just short of Bishop's by a score of 7-5.
La Jolla Country Day also got a good showing from Matthew Onaitis, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Onaitis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jackson Norum made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Mitch Circuit was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Maranatha Christian's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-17. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for La Jolla Country Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
Maranatha Christian might still be hurting after the 13-1 loss they got from La Jolla Country Day when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
