Baseball Recap: Ceres Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Ceres proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 16) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Pacheco Panthers 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Vincent Castrejon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ceres' victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Moreno, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Ceres' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Pacheco, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ceres beat Pacheco by a score of 8-6 on Thursday.
