Basketball Recap: Kemper Academy Takes a Loss

Kemper Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Sylva Bay Academy Saints, falling 69-15. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Saints are ranked 149th).

Sylva Bay Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tristen Rogers out in front who went 6 for 7 on his way to 14 points and eight steals. Rogers has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 18 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Boyd, who went 8 of 11 en route to 16 points.

Kemper Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Kemper Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they will take on Newton County Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sylva Bay Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
