Canyon took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against East Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Canyon Cougars had just enough and edged out the East Central Hornets 9-8 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one run.

Canyon's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 11-3. As for East Central, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-5 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon will head out to square off against Judson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canyon is facing Judson at the right time seeing as Judson is stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for East Central, they will venture away from home to face off against Clemens at 7:00 p.m. on March 18th. Clemens is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
