The Tri Titans will challenge the Wes-Del Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tri's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Wes-Del's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Tri's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Shenandoah hitters got past them. The Titans came up short against the Raiders on Saturday, falling 18-0. The Titans have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
Wes-Del never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Centerville on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over the Bulldogs. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Warriors' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Wes-Del let Marley Bertram and Kenzie Anderson run wild. Bertram got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Anderson went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Brooklynn Eden was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Wes-Del has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Tri, their loss dropped their record down to 14-4.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Tri has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Wes-Del struggles in that department as they've averaged .472. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
