Gage Decarolis and Nolan Leso did most of the damage at the plate: Decarolis went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Leso went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two runs gave Decarolis a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Messalonskee had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 13-9 victory over Edward Little on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the match before.
Jordan Lewis was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Bernier, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Messalonskee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Mt. Blue pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Messalonskee, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mt. Blue has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Messalonskee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Mt. Blue's way against Messalonskee in their previous matchup on May 13th, as Mt. Blue made off with an 8-1 win. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
