Basketball Recap: Chattanooga Central Falls Despite Big Games from Perry Bates and Kelijah Holmes + How To Watch

Chattanooga Central managed to slip by Signal Mountain the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Pounders came up short against the Eagles on Friday, falling 61-35. While losing is never fun, the Pounders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Eagles are ranked 78th).

Kelijah Holmes and Perry Bates certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Holmes posted 12 points, while Bates earned nine points. Josiah Mitchell also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Leading Signal Mountain to victory were Max Rackel and Dane McMillan. Rackel went 5-for-10 to rack up 15 points, while McMillan put up 12 points. Another player making a difference was John Zimmerman, who had ten points and seven rebounds.

Chattanooga Central is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6. As for Signal Mountain, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Coming up, Chattanooga Central will head out to face off against Cleveland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Signal Mountain, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-29 defeat against Baylor on the 13th.
