Softball Recap: Granville Takes a Loss

Granville extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-12 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Newark Catholic Green Wave. The Blue Aces were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Green Wave apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Newark Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 29, 2024.

For Newark Catholic's part, the team relied heavily on Addi Gerber (2025), who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Granville will face off against Zanesville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.5 runs per game on average), something the Blue Aces will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Newark Catholic, they are taking a road trip to square off against Johnstown-Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
