Volleyball Recap: Cordova Triumphs

Cordova hadn't done well against Birchwood Christian recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Wolverines came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 2-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 on Friday.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Cordova took both sets by at least 19 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-3.

Among those leading the charge was Willow Tiedeman, who had four aces and three digs. Those four aces gave her a new career-high. Hayden Tschappat also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Cordova was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Cordova's record is now 8-2. As for Birchwood Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Cordova wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Glennallen on the 27th. As for Birchwood Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Unalaska at 5:00 p.m. on the 7th.
