Basketball Recap: Mccutcheon Starts Season with Defeat at Home

McCutcheon unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Plainfield Quakers by a score of 58-56 on Wednesday. While the Mavericks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Quakers 19-13 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why McCutcheon lost, don't look at Keara Lipscomb-Allen. Despite the final result, she posted 27 points and seven rebounds. Lillie Graves was another key player, going 6-for-13 to rack up 15 points and seven boards.

Hannah Menser had an outrageously good game for Plainfield as she shot 45% from the field on her way to 21 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. That's the most boards Menser has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Berkeley Williams, who earned 12 points.

McCutcheon has already played their next contest, a 66-58 win against Lake Central on the 8th. As for Plainfield, they will welcome Brownsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
