Baseball Game Preview: Morton Ranch Mavericks vs. Seven Lakes Spartans

Morton Ranch is 0-10 against Seven Lakes since March of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Mavericks will head out on the road to square off against the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Morton Ranch has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cinco Ranch hit Morton Ranch with a five-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mavericks came up short against the Cougars, falling 11-1. The Mavericks just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Meanwhile, while Seven Lakes put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Mayde Creek. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Rams. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

James Levin tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Tyler Sims was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Christian Villamizar was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Seven Lakes and bumps their season record up to 18-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Morton Ranch, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-21.
