Softball Recap: Daviess County's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Daviess County extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 11-3 in the process. They put the hurt on the Jasper Wildcats with a sharp 10-1 win. Considering the Panthers have won nine matches by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Annie Newman was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Molly Hancock was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Daviess County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jasper only managed five hits.

As for Jasper, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this game were averaging three runs allowed.

On Jasper's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Williams has hit this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Daviess County will venture away from home to square off against Owensboro Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jasper, they will head out to challenge North Daviess at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
