Baseball Recap: Marianapolis Prep Takes Down Berwick Academy in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Marianapolis Prep had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Berwick Academy Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Knights have posted since May 20, 2024.

Marianapolis Prep got a great performance from Nick Vanfleet as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 6.2 innings pitched. Vanfleet also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Golden Knights are 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Marianapolis Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Boris Valdez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Valdez has posted since back in April.

The victory made it two in a row for Marianapolis Prep and bumps their season record up to 4-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Berwick Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5-1.

As of now, neither Marianapolis Prep nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
