Baseball Game Preview: Shaker Heights Red Raiders vs. Brunswick Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Shaker Heights will face off against Brunswick. The Red Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shaker Heights is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Brunswick hit Shaker Heights with a nine-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Raiders came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 12-2.

For Brunswick's part, they got a great performance from Kayden Draiss as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Draiss has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Elijah Poindexter was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Wojtala, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Brunswick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Shaker Heights' loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Brunswick, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5.
