Softball Recap: Clovis Takes a Loss

Clovis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 21-9 to the Goddard Rockets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Thursday.

Jazlynn Chavez-Marin and Brooke Renteria did some serious damage despite the final result: Chavez-Marin scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Renteria scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Sierra Rodriguez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Clovis' loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Goddard, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Clovis Wildcats duke it out with Eunice Cardinals at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Goddard, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Santa Fe Indian at 12:00 p.m. Goddard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
