Baseball Game Preview: Oroville Hornets vs. Non Varsity Opponent

The Oroville Hornets will challenge Non Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Saturday, Oroville didn't have quite enough to beat Waterville and fell 7-6. The game marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Owen Wills was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tucker Accord, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Non Varsity Opponent waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 12-9 win over the Shockers. The game was the first time Non Varsity Opponent has beaten Waterville on their field since April 21st.

Oroville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2-1. As for Non Varsity Opponent, their victory bumped their record up to 97-145-8.

Oroville took their win against Non Varsity Opponent when the teams last played back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do Non Varsity Opponent have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
