Basketball Game Preview: Tyler Knights vs. Trimble Tomcats

Having just played yesterday, the Tyler Knights will jump right back in to play the Trimble Tomcats at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Tyler will be strutting in after a victory while Trimble will be coming in after a defeat.

Tyler will head into Friday's game on the come-up: they were handed a 48-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-44 win over Wirt County. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted against the Tigers since January 28, 2019.

Katie Grimm had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Riley Stover, who posted two points and nine steals.

Tyler smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Trimble was beaten by Federal Hocking 61-21 last Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Tomcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Lancers are ranked 87th).

Tyler's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Trimble, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
