Basketball Recap: Roaring Fork Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After flying high against Weld Central on Thursday, Roaring Fork came back down to earth. The Rams lost to the Regis Groff Fusion on the road by a 81-65 margin on Friday. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fusion apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Roaring Fork lost, don't look at Lucas Carballeira. Despite the final result, he went 12-for-19 en route to 27 points and seven rebounds. Carballeira's big performance that afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiko Pena, who shot 55% from the field on his way to 16 points and six boards.

Regis Groff got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was James Murdock out in front who dropped a double-double with 29 points and ten rebounds. Murdock has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 11 times he's played. Javelle Taylor was another key player, going 9-for-12 to rack up 22 points along with five assists and five boards.

Roaring Fork's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2. As for Regis Groff, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Roaring Fork has already played their next contest, a 58-56 win against Brush on the 13th. As for Regis Groff, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 87-41 victory against Weld Central on the 13th.
