Flag Football Recap: Trabuco Hills Comes Up Short Despite Bianca Kacian's Big Defensive Game

Trabuco Hills and JSerra Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Trabuco Hills had to settle for second. They took a 20-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Lions are ranked first).

When it comes to explaining why Trabuco Hills lost, don't look at Emma Ortiz. Despite the final result, she picked up 113 receiving yards and one score. Ellie Tapper was another key player, having thrown for 250 yards and two touchdowns.

Trabuco Hills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Bianca Kacian, Piper Kawanaka, and Mya Santos picked up one apiece. Santos has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times she's played.

JSerra Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from GG Szczuka, who picked up 67 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Trabuco Hills' loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for JSerra Catholic, the win keeps them at an undefeated 25-0.

Trabuco Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for JSerra Catholic, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 41-0 victory against Santa Margarita on the 27th.
