Flag Football Recap: Trabuco Hills Falls Short of Jserra Catholic in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Trabuco Hills can now relate to. They took a 20-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the JSerra Catholic Lions on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Lions are ranked first).

Despite the loss, Trabuco Hills still got an impressive performance from Emma Ortiz, who picked up 113 receiving yards and one touchdown. Ellie Tapper was another key player, having thrown for 250 yards and two touchdowns.

Trabuco Hills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Bianca Kacian, Piper Kawanaka, and Mya Santos picked up one apiece. Santos is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as she's now made five or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Trabuco Hills' loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for JSerra Catholic, the win keeps them at an undefeated 25-0.

As of now, neither Trabuco Hills nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
