Softball Recap: Jay County Extends Winning Streak to Three

Jay County never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Bluffton Tigers as they made off with a 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Zoe Mclaughlin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Hallie Schwieterman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Brenna Ruble was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Jay County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bluffton only posted an OBP of .286.

The win (which was Jay County's third in a row) raised their record to 10-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bluffton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Jay County will take on Eastern at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bluffton, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Heritage at 5:30 p.m.
