Basketball Recap: Southeast Cyclones vs. Burns Broncs

The Southeast Cyclones can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They strolled past Burns with points to spare, taking the game 51-37. The victory was just what Southeast needed coming off of a 71-39 loss in their prior matchup.

Leading Southeast to victory were Ayden Desmond and TJ Moats. Desmond dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Moats almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Moats has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Beaux Shimic, who scored six points.

Burns' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaw Martin, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Mason Terry, who scored eight points along with five steals.

The win got Southeast back to even at 8-8. As for Burns, they are on a 17-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

Southeast will head out on the road to take on the Longhorns at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rock River is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Cyclones a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Burns, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Douglas will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
