Basketball Recap: Heartland Lutheran Finds Home Court Redemption Against Franklin

There's no place like home for Heartland Lutheran, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past the Franklin Flyers 56-35 on Tuesday. The Red Hornets pushed the score to 49-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Flyers cut but never quite recovered from.

Heartland Lutheran found their leader in freshman Luke Olson, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Chad Rostvet, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Heartland Lutheran was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Franklin lost, don't look at Eldon Haack. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 boards. Haack is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Caiden Peterman was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Heartland Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Franklin, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Heartland Lutheran has already played their next contest, a 49-31 loss against Newman Grove/St. Edward on the 16th. As for Franklin, they will face off against Blue Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
