Softball Recap: Hackberry Mustangs vs. Pickering Red Devils
After flying high against Hathaway last Thursday, Hackberry came back down to earth. The Hackberry Mustangs came up short against the Pickering Red Devils on Tuesday, falling 18-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 16-13 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2016.
Harmony Bodie was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Kynlin Moore, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Bodie wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Hackberry kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Hackberry's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Pickering, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-3.
Looking ahead, Hackberry will venture away from home to take on South Cameron at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pickering, they will face off against East Beauregard at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pickering is facing East Beauregard at the right time seeing as East Beauregard is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
