Football Game Preview: Crisp County Cougars vs. Appling County Pirates + Official Tickets

The Crisp County Cougars will challenge the Appling County Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Crisp County barely beat Tattnall County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 35-3 victory over the Warriors. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-3.

Crisp County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hagan Slimp, who rushed for 69 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 101 yards on only nine passes. Another rusher making a difference was Derrell Brown, who rushed for 78 yards and two scores on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Crisp County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 369 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 169 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Appling County slipped by Fitzgerald 15-14 last Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Crisp County better keep an eye on Jaiden Knight. He was instrumental in Appling County's win, rushing for 209 yards and one TD while picking up 10.0 yards per carry.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed nine in total. All came from Alan Ramirez: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points.

The win got Appling County back to even at 3-3. As for Crisp County, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.
