Softball Game Preview: Trinity Trojans vs. Lutheran West Longhorns

Trinity hasn't had much luck against Lutheran West recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Longhorns at 5:00 p.m.

Trinity is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to Cuyahoga Heights.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lutheran West). They were the clear victors by a 31-6 margin over St. Martin de Porres on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Longhorns needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Lutheran West let Aryana 'Ary' Garcia and Kailyn Caster run wild. Garcia went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs, while Caster got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Hughes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Lutheran West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .927. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lutheran West is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.2 runs over those games. As for Trinity, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
