Basketball Recap: Atkins Takes a Loss

Atkins was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 60-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carver Yellowjackets. The Camels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Atkins saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Abram Talbert posted ten points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Caiden Allen, who shot 63% from the field on his way to 12 points.

Atkins' loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Carver, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Atkins will take on Mount Airy in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Carver and Reidsville will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Yellowjackets their first taste of in-conference action this season.
