League recap: Spring Valley climbs in standings with win

Spring Valley was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 10th to fifth in Section 1 A - 2. The Tigers defeated Lincoln 33-8 earlier in the week.

Port Chester moved up to 332 from 501 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Rams were able to make the jump by beating the Rams 26-0.

Ossining's dynamic duo of Justin Davidov and Anthony Donadio proved tough for Gorton to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Davidov threw for 181 yards and three touchdowns and Donadio had 80 yards receiving. Joshua Almodovar helped Ossining's passing attack out by catching two balls for 38 yards.

Stefano Bicknese was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 177 yards as Somers defeated the Wolves. Teammate Joseph Lombardo added to the ground attack by rushing for 49 yards.

Nick Mariano provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Yorktown fell to Poughkeepsie. He completed seven passes for 93 yards and also ran for 137 yards. Mariano's favorite target this week was Brian Prestreau, who caught two passes for 36 yards.

On the ground, the Tuskers' Bicknese has rushed for 419 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Joe Festo. The Somers star has 10 catches for 150 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Somers takes on the Pioneers. As it stands, Tony Dematteo's team is in first, while Poughkeepsie is in third.

Dan Ricci's team took down Gorton 37-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Davidov ran for 22 yards in the win.
