Preview: Naselle Comets vs. Quilcene Rangers

Naselle is 3-0 against Quilcene since November of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Naselle Comets will look to defend their home field against the Quilcene Rangers at 6:00 p.m. Naselle will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.

Naselle put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Chief Leschi with a sharp 80-58 victory. With Naselle ahead 52-28 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Naselle can attribute much of their success to Jack Strange, who gained 267 total yards and seven touchdowns, and Jacob Lindstrom, who rushed for 257 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per carry. Lindstrom's longest rush was for an incredible 98 yards.

Meanwhile, Quilcene faced Neah Bay in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Quilcene was outmatched by Neah Bay at home and fell 54-14. Quilcene has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their defeat, Quilcene saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Andrew Perez-Lopez, who gained 142 total yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Iverson, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown.

Naselle's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Quilcene, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as the pair have no problem gaining yardage. Naselle has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 524.6 total yards per game. However, it's not like Quilcene struggles in that department as they've been averaging 372.9 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.

Everything went Naselle's way against Quilcene in their previous meeting back in September as Naselle made off with a 66-40 victory. Does Naselle have another victory up their sleeve, or will Quilcene turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
