Softball Recap: St. John's Wins High-Profile Contest Against National Cathedral

St. John faced National Cathedral in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Sunday. The Cadets walked away with a 6-2 victory over National Cathedral. That's more bragging rights for the Cadets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Chloe Armiger made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Armiger wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maya Cardone, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

St. John's was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as National Cathedral only posted a batting average of .192.

St. John's has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for National Cathedral, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.

As of now, neither St. John's nor National Cathedral have any future games scheduled.
