Hillside and Riverside-Durham are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. Hillside will welcome Riverside-Durham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Riverside-Durham will be up against a hot Hillside team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Hillside's pitchers stepped up to hand Durham School of the Arts a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won three games by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Riverside-Durham got the win against Carrboro on Monday by a conclusive 15-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Grace Arrington made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lila Goldstein, who scored four runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Paisley Russell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Hillside pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Riverside-Durham, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Hillside might still be hurting after the 22-8 defeat they got from Riverside-Durham when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Hillside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
