Recap: East Thunderbirds vs. Resurrection Christian Cougars
It was a good run, but the East Thunderbirds unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak dating back to last season on Saturday. They fell 54-46 to Resurrection Christian. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points East has scored all season.
Resurrection Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacob Barker out in front who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ty Yoder, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
East's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-1. As for Resurrection Christian, their victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
East will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rock Springs at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Rock Springs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Wyoming Rankings (they are ranked 54th, while East is ranked ninth). As for Resurrection Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Mary's at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
