We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Battle Ground Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Providence Christian Academy on Thursday. Battle Ground Academy blew past Providence Christian Academy 11-2.
Leelee Fernandez made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Fernandez was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Battle Ground Academy got a massive performance out of Cooper Corbett, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Ellery Baisden was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Tullahoma can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. Everything went their way against Marion County as Tullahoma made off with a 13-3 win. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Like Battle Ground Academy, Tullahoma also got a great game from a two-way player: Amaya Sharp. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Sharp was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.
In other batting news, Madison Goad was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, three doubles, and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Lynch, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Tullahoma hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Battle Ground Academy's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Tullahoma, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.
