Millis and Westwood are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Mohawks will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m.
Millis blew Medfield out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Medfield got their revenge. The Mohawks fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mohawks have suffered since May 9, 2024.
Molly Rand made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Sparks, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Westwood made sure to put some runs up on the board against Norwood on Monday. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 15-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
Bridget Mulkeen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izzy Walsh, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amelia O'Neill, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Westwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Westwood has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Millis, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Millis came up short against Westwood in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 5-0. Will the Mohawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
