Baseball Game Preview: Pittsburg Pirates vs. Mt. Eden Monarchs

The Pittsburg Pirates will square off against the Mt. Eden Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Pittsburg's favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Mt. Eden has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Pittsburg's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Kennedy as Pittsburg made off with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won three contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Ty Thompson was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. JD Wilson was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, Mt. Eden came up short against Oakland Tech on Friday, falling 13-3.

Bryan Zamora made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

Even though they lost, Mt. Eden hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakland Tech struck out seven times.

Pittsburg's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Mt. Eden, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Pittsburg took their victory against Mt. Eden when the teams last played back in February of 2020 by a conclusive 18-0. Does Pittsburg have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Eden turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
