Fremont is 0-3 against Maywood CES since March of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Pathfinders will take on the Wolfpack at 3:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fremont is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Eagle Rock 7-6.
James Harris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Isaiah Velez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Adrian Rodriguez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Fremont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eagle Rock only posted a batting average of .243.
Meanwhile, Maywood CES waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Gladiators 11-1. The Wolfpack might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.
Brian Aguirre and David Aguirre did most of the damage at the plate: Brian went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while David went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Luis Cruz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Fremont has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Maywood CES, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8.
Fremont came up short against Maywood CES when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 6-3. Can the Pathfinders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
