Volleyball Game Preview: Altoona Mountain Lions vs. North Star Cougars

Altoona is on a seven-game streak of home losses, and North Star a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m.

Altoona lost 3-0 to Hollidaysburg on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mountain Lions have suffered against the Golden Tigers since October 24, 2022.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-10, 25-17.

Altoona's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Marina Petucci, who had 15 digs, and Maraya Bittner, who had 12 assists and three digs. Petucci is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last 12 games she's played.

Meanwhile, North Star made easy work of Greater Johnstown on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won four in a row.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant North Star was: they took every set by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-12, 25-9.

Altoona's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16-1. As for North Star, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
